The Department of Psychology at Thal University Bhakkar was established to address the growing need for mental health professionals and behavioral scientists in the region. Our BS (Hons) Psychology program, spanning 8 semesters with a minimum of 134 credit hours, offers a comprehensive curriculum covering developmental, social, cognitive, clinical, organizational, forensic, and educational psychology. Our faculty members are actively engaged in research and practical training. The program emphasizes evidence-based practices, psychological assessment, counselling skills, hypothesis testing, information handling, and critical evaluation of empirical data enabling students to act as professional psychologists within organizations and communities. With well-equipped labs, a dedicated team, and community collaborations, we aim to become a center of excellence in psychological education and research in Punjab.

Department Mission Statement

Our mission is to advance the understanding of human behaviour and mental processes through
quality education, ethical research, and community service, while fostering critical thinking, cultural
sensitivity, and professional competence. Specifically, we are committed to:
i. Academic Excellence: Delivering high-quality, comprehensive education in psychological
science, ensuring students develop profound knowledge of human behavior, mental
processes, and psychological theories, with a focus on critical thinking and real-world
application.
ii. Diverse Career Preparation: Preparing students for successful careers in clinical and
counselling psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, forensic psychology, sports
psychology, educational psychology, human resource management, health psychology, and
research.
iii. Research and Innovation: Advancing psychology through rigorous research, bridging theory
and practice, and encouraging students to contribute new knowledge through small-scale
research projects, seminars, and empirical data analysis.
iv. Social Responsibility and Well-being: Promoting mental health, well-being, and social
justice through outreach programs, partnerships with local schools, hospitals, and NGOs,
and by emphasizing ethical practice, cultural competence, and psychological resilience.
v. Global Impact: Through advanced studies (MPhil, MS, PhD), developing future leaders in
psychology who will influence policy, drive transformative change, and improve mental
health services, education, and organizational management.
